Abstract
Transmission of short pulses with suppressed third-order fibre dispers ion effects is demonstrated by sinusoidal phase modulation of stretche d optical pulses. Numerical simulation results show significantly less pulse distortion for transmission of 530fs pulses over a 10km fibre l ink achieved by applying 2.56GHz phase modulation with a peak phase sh ift of 3 pi.
