Abstract
Detailed measurements of the temperature and magnetic-field dependence of the magnetization and the magnetic relaxation of Nb films have bee n carried out. An irreversibility line, below which the remanent magne tization decayed logarithmically in time, was identified. The data wer e quantitatively compared to predictions of flux-creep, vortex-glass, and vortex-lattice-melting models. Only the melting model self-consist ently explained the data.
