Abstract
Based on the concept of effective dimensions, a modification to the co nventional waveguide model (CWGM), usually used to predict the resonan t frequency of rectangular DRA, is introduced. Compared with the exper imental results, it is found that this newly introduced MWGM yields mo re accurate results for the resonant frequency than the CWGM. Accuracy of the results is also checked by comparison with numerically calcula ted values using a TLM-based commercial software. Ir is also found tha t the MWGM not only yields accurate values, but also results in consid erable computation time savings. (C) 1998 John Whey & Sons, Inc.
