Abstract
A hybrid single and dual simple layer Boundary integral (BIE) formulat ion is proposed in this paper. The number of unknowns per node can be reduced to minimum, i.e. one, three or four unknowns respectively depe nding on various kinds of material interfaces. By using this formulati on, the computer storage can be greatly reduced so that large and comp lex application problem may be numerically simulated. Numerical exampl es and an application are included.
