O. Michelsson et Fh. Uhlmann, ON THE USE OF THE 3D H-PHI-FORMULATION FOR THE FORWARD SOLUTION FOR EDDY-CURRENT NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 34(5), 1998, pp. 2672-2675
Eddy current nondestructive testing has the potential for estimating t
he shape and size of defects in conducting materials. In the testing p
rocess an artificial defect is varied in size and position until the m
easured and estimated fields are in tolerable agreement. An accurate a
nd fast three-dimensional field computation is therefore required whic
h can resolve very small field perturbations generated by e.g. a subsu
rface crack. In this paper an implementation of a boundary element for
mulation with four variables on linear or quadratic isoparametric elem
ents is presented, which is able to fulfil these requirements. The acc
uracy of the proposed method is validated with the TEAM benchmark prob
lem No.6. Tests were also carried out for the TEAM Benchmark Problem N
o.15.
