Sll. Verardi et al., A SOLUTION OF 2-DIMENSIONAL MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIC FLOW USING THE FINITE-ELEMENT METHOD, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 34(5), 1998, pp. 3134-3137
A numerical code based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) was develope
d to solve the two-dimensional, steady-state magnetohydrodynamic (MHD)
flow in rectangular channel. In order to apply the FEM, the Galerkin
Weak Formulation was used. In this analysis, in contrast with the prev
ious works, the thickness of the duct wall is taken into account and t
he results are compared to those obtained in the limit case when the t
hickness is much smaller than characteristic dimension of the duct. In
this case, convergence behaviour of several iterative methods, for hi
gh Hartmann numbers, was also investigated.
