Abstract
A finite element/analytically based method is used to aid the minimiza tion of cogging force, due to slotting and the finite length of the fe rromagnetic core, in a tubular brushless permanent magnet motor. The m ethod is validated against both finite element calculations and measur ements on a prototype motor.
