The devitalizing effectiveness of 5 patterns of the desinfectant Neopr
edisan (active principle: p-chlorine-m-cresol) was tested to eggs of A
scaris suum in coincidence with the ''guidelines for the testing of ch
emical desinfectants'' of the German Veterinary Society (GVS). In the
suspension-test all examined patterns indicated 100% inhibition of dev
elopment Ascaris suum-eggs. In the germ carrier test all patterns were
in conformity with the necessities of the GVS-guidelines. Also in the
modificated testing method with a temperature in the refrigerator of
+10 degrees C Neopredisan showed a reliable (100%) efficacy. Toe inhib
ition of development was clearly delayed with an admixture of 20% faec
es to the suspension of eggs. In a suspension-test with Neopredisan 14
0 in 3% solution after 15 minutes with embryonated eggs a nearly 100%
ovicid and larvicid respectively efficacy was proved. The investigatio
ns show, Neopredisan is value as a suitable desinfectant in the comple
x of the combat against ascariosis in the breeding of pigs.
