The HCN J = 1 - 0 line emission in the region around the H2O maser sou
rce S76E demonstrates unusual ratios of the intensities of the hfs com
ponents: the F = 1 - 1 component is much stronger than the main F = 2
- 1 component and the other satellite component F = 0 - 1. The most pl
ausible explanation of this anomaly is the shielding of the core emiss
ion by a large amount of blue-shifted low density cold molecular gas o
n the line of sight.
