Abstract
Coherent soft X-ray generation by an intense KrF laser is reported. We have investigated two different schemes of high order harmonics and o ptical-field-ionization X-ray lasers by using a 0.5 ps, 100 mJ KrF las er. The highest order harmonics observed in He+ was the 37th harmonic (6.7 nm). We also report the results of a spectroscopic investigation of a 13.5 nm Lyman-alpha laser with a microcapillary target. In both s chemes, the ultraviolet wavelength of the KrF laser plays a significan t role.
