Abstract
The following is a summary of the National Research Council/National A cademy of Sciences report entitled Permissible Exposure Levels for Sel ected Military Fuel Vapors. That report was prepared in response to a request from the U.S. Navy to review the toxicity data on two jet-prop ulsion (JP) fuels JP-5 and JP-8 and diesel fuel marine (DFM) and deter mine the scientific validity of the Navy's proposed 8-h permissible ex posure limits (PELs) and 15- min short-term exposure limits (STELs) fo r all three fuels. The report was prepared by the National Research Co uncil Subcommittee on Permissible Exposure Levels for Military Fuels. The rosier of the subcommittee is as follows.
