To explore the correlations between short-term neurophysiological even
ts initiated by over-activation of acetylcholine receptors, and long-l
asting changes in brain function; we combined electrophysiology and PC
R-based measurements in hippocampal slices or live mice subjected to s
tress or drug-induced cholinergic activation. Our findings reveal a co
mmon cascade of neuronal events resulting in delayed suppression of ch
olinergic transmission. ((C)Elsevier, Paris).
