Abstract
The ceramic tile manufacturing process is now completely automated, wi th the exception of the final stage of production concerned with visua l inspection. In this paper, the authors describe an integrated system developed for the detection of defects on color ceramic tiles and for the color grading of defect-free tiles. The results suggest that the performance is adequate for providing a basis for a viable commercial visual inspection system. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A, All rights re served.
