Abstract
It was found that when the radical copolymerization of styrene with me thacrylic acid is carried out in bulk, the composition of the copolyme r and the effective reactivity ratios r(1) and r(2) depend on the conc entration of AIBN used as the initiator, while in the solvent copolyme rization, this effect is not observed. An increase in the AIBN concent ration leads to a degenerate effect of the solvents forming hydrogen b onds on the copolymer composition. The experimental data are interpret ed within the framework of the Bootstrap model of copolymerization tak ing into account the coefficients of preferential solvation of macromo lecules determined by equilibrium dialysis.
