Reactions of haloalkenes, in which the halogen atom occupies an alpha-
position with respect to an electron-withdrawing group, with nitrogen
nucleophiles are considered. Primary attention is devoted to elucidati
on of the dependence of the reaction route on the nature of the nucleo
phile and substrate and on the reaction conditions. Possible mechanism
s of nucleophilic substitution of the vinylic halogen atoms in alkenes
, in which the activating and leaving groups are attached to the same
carbon atom, are discussed.
