GRAFTING OF AN VINYL MONOMER ON PA FIBERS BY STANDING BATH METHOD

To use the acrylonitrile (AN) monomer to the maximum, a new technique has been proposed that uses the monomer from the first bath, several t imes, by applying a standing bath technique. An appreciable amount of grafting has been obtained until the fourth bath. By modifying the sta nding bath technique, adding accurate amount of AN monomer to successi ve baths has been possible, so that all four batches of grafted fibers had the same graft add-on and could be safely blended to give uniform dyeing. A new equation has been developed to facilitate the calculati ons of the quantities of AN monomer to be replenished in their standin g baths.
