Abstract
Looks at the development of operations management in Pakistan. Notes t hat 85 per cent of manufacturing companies in the country are small- a nd medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the remainder being branches o f multinationals and their affiliates. Considers some of the problems encountered by SMEs in Pakistan, such as lack of trained manpower and insufficient technological capability.
