Abstract
The efficiency of a non-overlapping domain decomposition method is str ictly related to the transmission operator acting at the interfaces be tween subdomains. A new operator, arising from the non-reflecting boun dary conditions theory, and a new iteration scheme lead to a dramatic improvement of the performances of the scheme which was originally pro posed by Bruno Despres and which is recalled in the first part of this paper. The convergence of the new method is proved and some numerical results show the comparison of the performances. (C) 1998 Elsevier Sc ience S.A. All rights reserved.
