Bb. Meyer et Ms. Wenger, ATHLETES AND ADVENTURE EDUCATION - AN EMPIRICAL-INVESTIGATION, International journal of sport psychology, 29(3), 1998, pp. 243-266
This study identifies and describes the outcome-oriented effects of ro
pes course participation on a girls high school tennis team and explor
es the process through which these outcomes were achieved. Lewin's cha
nge theory is used to explain how some of the athletes reaped greater
benefits from the ropes course experience than other athletes, and sim
ilarly were more dedicated and effective in their abilities to transfe
r the concepts they had learned to the tennis courts and beyond, Impli
cations for practitioners and researchers in both sport psychology and
adventure education are discussed.
