L. Lefort et al., OPTICAL PARAMETRIC OSCILLATION OUT TO 6.3 MU-M IN PERIODICALLY POLED LITHIUM-NIOBATE UNDER STRONG IDLER ABSORPTION, Applied physics letters, 73(12), 1998, pp. 1610-1612
The very high gains, achieved when using mode-locked pulses to synchro
nously pump an optical parametric oscillator based on periodically pol
ed lithium niobate, permit oscillation even with strong idler absorpti
on. Oscillation has been achieved at idler wavelengths out to 6.3 mu m
. Idler power was directly measured, out to 5.41 mu m. Beyond this, id
ler generation was inferred fi-om the observed signal. We present an a
nalysis of operation in the presence of strong idler absorption. (C) 1
