The experiments presented are part of a programing aiming at achieving
good crop yields in a short harvesting period. The importance of opti
mising the incubation is emphasized. The influence of the duration of
the incubation on the crop yield was investigated. Under the chosen gr
owing conditions, the crop yield was highest after an incubation of 35
days. It was lower after an incubation of 47 days than after one of 3
5 days. The time course of CO2-production of cultures during the incub
ation gave no indication of the optimal time for the transfer from the
incubation to the harvesting phase.
