Abstract
In addition to the determination of mechanical data, fractographic ins pections are an integral part of material development and failure anal ysis. In comparison to light microscopy, the use of scanning electron microscopy has several advantages. It enables the study of microscopic processes related to fracture initiation and growth, which can not be studied by light microscopy.
