Wta. Harrison et al., SYNTHESIS OF RB3SC2(ASO4)(3) AND ITS STRUCTURE DETERMINATION BY SYNCHROTRON SINGLE-CRYSTAL METHODS, Journal of solid state chemistry (Print), 139(2), 1998, pp. 299-303
Rb3Sc2(AsO4)(3) is a new cubic phase built up from vertex-sharing ScO6
and AsO4 building blocks and fused together via Sc-O-As bonds. Variou
sly coordinated Rb+ cations occupy lacunae in the Sc/As/O network. Rb3
Sc2(AsO4)(3) is closely related to the perovskite superstructure phase
Na4BaCu3F12. Synchrotron radiation methods elucidated the correct pri
mitive unit cell for Rb3Sc2(AsO4)(3) compared to the apparent body-cen
tered cell resulting from laboratory data. Crystal data: Rb3Sc2(AsO4)(
3), M-r = 763.09, cubic, space group Pa(3) over bar (No. 205), a = 16.
8749(7) Angstrom, V = 4805.3(3) Angstrom(3), Z = 16, R(F) = 0.0403, wR
(F-2) = 0.0761 (1818 reflections). (C) 1998 Academic Press.
