F. Delay et al., A MODEL TO ADVISE ON GROUNDWATER EVALUATION AND SURVEY (MAGES) - 1 - THEORY OF THE NUMERICAL-METHOD FOR THE TRANSPORT OF CONTAMINANTS, Comptes rendus de l'Academie des sciences. Serie 2. Sciences de la terre et des planetes, 327(4), 1998, pp. 253-258
MAGES is software for forecasting pollution hazards of groundwater whi
ch is in the process of development at INRS-Eau (Canada). The main dis
tinctive feature of the model is the use of stationary truncated tempo
ral moment equations instead of the classical time dependent advection
-dispersion equation to solve the transport of contaminants. The aim o
f this work is to describe the theory of truncated temporal moment equ
ations and to show how the curves of the concentration versus lime can
be calculated from temporal moments. The discrete method used to solv
e the equations and its stability is also discussed. ((C) Academie des
