We show that symmetry breaking in vectorial intracavity second-harmoni
c generation is the prerequisite for the formation of cavity solitons.
These solitons emerge as a result of self-organization of modulationa
lly unstable polarization fronts. It is shown that truncated one-dimen
sional cavity solitons move because they lack the equilibrium of attra
cting and repelling forces. Collisions of various two-dimensional cavi
ty solitons result in a rich diversity of final states.
