M. Pervin et al., STANDARD MODEL AND CP VIOLATIONS IN NEUTRAL K-MESON AND B-MESON SYSTEMS, Journal of physics. G, Nuclear and particle physics, 24(9), 1998, pp. 1693-1702
In this paper we discuss CP violations in K-0-(K) over bar(0) and B-0-
(B) over bar(0) systems in the framework of the standard model. To sta
rt with, using only the experimental values of the moduli of the eleme
nts in the first two rows of the CKM matrix and its unitarity, we soug
ht to fix the values of the complex phase angle delta, where V-ub = \V
(ub)j\e(-i delta).(.) We find, in the PDG representation, that delta =
delta(1) = 70 degrees +/- 6 degrees or delta = delta(2) = pi - delta(
1). Next, we utilize the empirical information on the CP violation par
ameter \epsilon(K)\ in neutral kaon decays, the B-0-(B) over bar(0) mi
xing parameter x(d), the ratio \I-ub/V-cb\ and the theoretical results
from the box diagrams for \epsilon(K)\ and Xd in order to evaluate th
e range of values for the angle delta. The result is 32 degrees less t
han or equal to delta less than or equal to 125 degrees, which include
s both delta(1) and delta(2) obtained earlier. This analysis also allo
ws us to obtain the possible values of B for a given angle delta, wher
e beta is defined by V-td = \V-td\e(-i beta). Thus, we are able to pre
dict the possible values of the CP asymmetry parameter a in the neutra
l B-meson decays to CP self-conjugate states. Our results will be usef
ul as the parameter a is expected to be measured in the near future.
