Abstract
The ASEAN-Canada Fisheries Post-Harvest Technology Project was initiat ed by Canada and ASEAN in support of regional efforts by ASEAN to incr ease their fish productivity for export and domestic consumption throu gh improvements to fisheries post-harvest technologies. The objectives of Phase II of the Project were to strengthen and upgrade fisheries p roduct quality control and inspection services and development of impr oved technologies in fish processing and preservation. The Project als o enhanced the transfer of appropriate technologies to the fish proces sing industries, leading to strengthened government and industry capab ilities in the ASEAN countries, The Project incorporated a unique impl ementation model in appointing an ASEAN Executing Agency, involving a local regional institution to implement and monitor the Project. The A EA concept was considered a successful model, warranting consideration for other similar projects.
