P. Brovetto et al., STUDY OF DEFECTS IN ZR LACUNAR NASICON CRYSTALS, Nuovo cimento della Societa italiana di fisica. D, Condensed matter, atomic, molecular and chemical physics, biophysics, 20(6), 1998, pp. 799-805
Samples of Nasicon compounds NaxZr2 - ySi3 - zPzO12, with x - 4y + z =
4, were investigated by radioluminescence and thermoluminescence expe
riments. It has been found that disorder in the Zr lacunar sublattice
originates charged defects active as centres of electron-hole radiativ
e recombinations in excited crystals. The analysis of radioluminescent
spectra shows that the minimum displacements of Na+ ions exceed 5 Ang
strom. This result yields information on the paths of Na+ ions in the
ionic conduction of these materials.
