F. Marchal et al., PLACE OF PERCUTANEOUS DRAINAGE IN ACUTE CALCULOUS CHOLECYSTITIS, BASED ON A SERIES OF 27 CASES, Annales de chirurgie, 52(7), 1998, pp. 618-624
Surgery is the treatment of acute calculous cholecystitis. Mortality a
nd morbidity are considerable for patients with anesthetic risk factor
s. In this context, ultrasound-guided percutaneous drainage seems tube
a alternative to urgent surgery. The place of this technic and its re
sults have not been determined with certainty. We report our experienc
e of percutaneous drainage in acute calculous cholecystitis, based on
a series of 27 patients treated between May 1992 and May 1996, A favor
able course was observed after drainage in 26 patients, one patient wa
s operated urgently for purulent peritonitis on DI. One drain migrated
into the gallbladder and required cholecystenterostomy en D30. Sevent
een patients underwent cholecystectomy after the acute episode. Surger
y was contraindicated in light patients: two presented recurrence of a
cute calculous cholecystitis and sis remained asymptomatic. The aim of
this study was to define the place of this technic in the treatment o
f acute calculous cholecystitis, and estimate the results ill terms of
mortality, morbidity and recurrence.
