A complex gamma-TiAl based alloy, Ti-47Al-1Cr-1Mn-21a-0.2Si (at%), has
been creep tested in a Fully lamellar microstructural condition at st
resses of 200 and 150 MPa and at temperatures of 700 and 800 degrees C
, respectively. This paper describes the effects of such creep test co
nditions on alloy microstructure. Crept samples exhibited two types of
precipitate along lamellar colony boundaries. Their crystal structure
s and chemical compositions have been determined, and formation mechan
isms and possible effects on creep are discussed. (C) 1998 Acta Metall
