Thermoluminescence and dosimetric characterization of KCl1-xBrx:Eu2+ m
ixed crystals exposed to beta-ray irradiation have been studied as a f
unction of composition x in the mixed solid solution. Significant chan
ges on its thermoluminescence properties and dosimetric behavior have
been found concerning pure end KCl:Eu2+ and KBr:Eu2+ components. The r
esults indicate a minimum thermoluminescence efficiency at about middl
e composition. The addition of small amount (1.0%) of Br- ion io KCl i
s more effective in producing a higher thermoluminescence efficiency a
nd lower fading. It also enhances the linear response as a function of
irradiation dose increasing greatly its application as an ionizing th
ermoluminescence dosimeter. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights
