Abstract
Optical and UV forbidden lines are some of the dominant radiative ener gy loss mechanisms in nebular astrophysics. Direct numerical calculati ons of their cooling rates are generally very time consuming. Computat ionally efficient polynomial approximations of important volume emissi vities for various ions of C, N, O, Ne, and S are fitted and presented in the domain 1 less-than-or-equal-to log10(n(e)/cm-3) less-than-or-e qual-to 7 and 3.5 less-than-or-equal-to log10(T(e)/K) less-than-or-equ al-to 5.
