Abstract
We present an analysis of the performance characteristics of in-line f iber-optic bandpass and band-stop wavelength filters. A planar wavegui de model was used for numerical simulations of the device performance. It was recently reported that the band-stop and the bandpass characte ristics of a filter device depend on the depth of polishing of a singl e-mode fiber. However, our numerical simulations show that both types of filter characteristic can be obtained with the same depth of polish ing. (C) 1998 Optical Society of America.
