Abstract
A preliminary result of a cryogenic experiment aimed at dark-matter se arches and the status of an experiment devoted to solar-axion searches both at the University of Tokyo are presented. On the basis of a test running of a 21-g LiF bolometer for 1.19 d in a surface laboratory, l imits were obtained on the normalized point-like cross section for the spin-dependent interaction of an incident neutralino with a single pr oton. Prospects for measurements with bolometers of a larger mass at a n underground laboratory are also outlined, A project of solar-axion s earches with a superconducting magnet and coherent conversion techniqu e is introduced. A magnet with a field strength of 4 T over 2.1 m was constructed and installed at a laboratory of the University of Tokyo. The search will begin with a target axion mass of 2.65 eV.
