High-reliability fibre Bragg gratings have been directly fabricated th
rough the UV-transparent coating of a tin-codoped germanosilicate fibr
e. For high strength fibre gratings, the average breaking strength = 4
.92GPa, stress corrosion susceptibility parameter n = 20, and shape pa
rameter m = 23. The same parameters for low strength fibre gratings we
re 1.25GPa, 21 and 9, respectively.
