Abstract
Soil erosion from water has been occurring for centuries in some areas of Chile. Chequen Farm in Concepcion, Chile, has not been plowed for 38 years and has been in continuous no-tillage for the last 19 years. Carlos Crovetto was invited to present information about his farming o peration on Chequen farm. He presents various observations and measure ments of soil changes that have occurred after the transition to no-ti llage. Many positive changes in soil quality and productivity have bee n observed. Chequen Farm has become an international example of how no -tillage can be used to enhance long-term agricultural sustainability.
