Em. Tsai et al., HYSTEROSCOPIC RESECTION OF VAGINAL SEPTUM IN AN ADOLESCENT VIRGIN WITH OBSTRUCTED HEMIVAGINA, Human reproduction (Oxford. Print), 13(6), 1998, pp. 1500-1501
This article reports on one patient with a double uterus, unilateral v
aginal obstruction, with hemi-haematocolpos and ipsilateral renal agen
esis, Early accurate diagnosis followed by the excision of the obstruc
ting vaginal septum offers complete relief of symptoms, while preservi
ng reproductive capacity, Unlike conventional excision of vaginal sept
um, me used resectoscope excision with cutting electrode under continu
ous pure distilled water irrigation. The postoperative course was unev
entful, and haematocolpos and severe dysmenorrhoea disappeared. The re
sected vaginal area revealed re-epithelialization by hysteroscope foll
owup one year after resection, With advancements in resectoscopic oper
ation, evaluation and treatment of vaginal disorders in babies and vir
gins is very feasible.
