S. Mukherjee et Vp. Singh, PLASMID PROFILE AND VIRULENCE ANALYSIS OF SALMONELLA-ENTERITIDIS (INDIAN POULTRY ISOLATES), Journal of Applied Animal Research, 14(1), 1998, pp. 99-102
Nine S. Enteritidis strains, which were mainly poultry isolates, were
characterized by studying: their virulence and plasmid profile. AIL th
e nine strains were found to be lethal to mice when inoculated intrape
ritoneally and E 2440 strain was found to be the most virulent. All th
e strains possessed a single plasmid of approximately 36 MDa (54 kb) s
ize which appeared to be the same as serotype-specific plasmid reporte
d earlier. Besides, strain E 2442 has been found to possess three addi
tional plasmids of sizes approximately 16.5 MDa (24.8 kb), 6 MDa (9 kb
) and 2 MDa (3 kb).
