The formation of a Rh-Sn binuclear complex in Rh(III) and Sn(II) sulfa
te electrolytes was confirmed by spectrophotometry. Photoelectrical st
udies detected a Rh-Sn charge-transfer complex on the surface of a rho
dium electrode subjected to cyclic anode-cathode treatment in a tin su
lfate solution. The ionization potential of this complex I-d is 11.3 e
V.
