Abstract
This study evaluated the influence of age, gender, race, and education on learning and memory in older persons. Free and Cued Selective Remi nding (FCSR) was administered to a community-based sample of 216 Cauca sian and 50 African American seniors as part of a larger medical and n europsychological battery. Although age, education, and gender influen ced FCSR performance, race did not. The study suggests that memory per formance is not influenced by race and that race-adjustment may not be necessary in the norming of memory tests.
