Abstract
We report discovery of 41 variable stars in the field of the young ope n cluster NGC 5999. 30 stars have light curves typical for eclipsing s ystems: this group contains three Algol-type and 27 W UMa type variabl e stars. One RR Lyr and one delta Scuti stars form a group of pulsatin g variables. Nine variable stars are of unknown type and classified as miscellaneous. One of them is a periodic, most probably chromospheric ally active star. Our data are too scarce to make any conclusion about periodicity of remaining eight variable stars.
