Abstract
New octupolar bithiophenic methyl rations belonging to the Crystal Vio let family are described (see Figure). The synthesis and electrochemic al properties of these cations, which should combine the second-order nonlinear optical properties of Crystal Violet with the electrochemica l properties of heterocycles, are reported along with the findings fro m molecular computations.
