INVESTIGATION OF REFERENCE CATALYSTS IN BORESKOV-INSTITUTE-OF-CATALYSIS - TEXTURE OF REFERENCE PLATINUM CATALYSTS

Texture investigations of a series of InCat Pt reference catalysts pre pared on a large scale are presented, including some basic characteris tics: specific surface area, pore volume, average pore size. All the s amples have clearly demonstrated a mesoporous structure. The preparati on procedure did not modify appreciably the surface area or the pore v olume, but substantially changed the pore size distribution. Such refe rence platinum catalysts can be used for test and calibration purposes and for co-ordination of new investigations. In addition, a short sum mary of the standardisation of the surface area determination by the B ET-nitrogen adsorption method is presented. A set of Russian state sta ndard samples for calibration of instruments for specific surface area measurement of various dispersed and porous materials is described. ( C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
