Abstract
SPICE is a widely used simulation tool for electrical circuits and sys tems. When optoelectronic elements, such as lasers, detectors, modulat ors, etc., and optical elements, such as lenses, gratings, beam splitt ers, etc., are incorporated into SPICE, optoelectronic system simulati on can be combined with that of electronic systems, facilitating hybri d system design and analysis. We discuss an optoelectronic SPICE imple mentation that includes time-, power-, and wavelength-domain behaviors . Examples of optical component simulation and optical interconnect sy stem simulation by use of SPICE are included and compared with the res ults from a conventional ray-tracing optical analysis tool.
