A. Azzouz et Ma. Didi, KINETICS OF THE SYNTHESIS OF TETRAETHYLETHYLENEDIPHOSPHONATE THROUGH NMR-STUDY, Revue roumaine de chimie, 43(4), 1998, pp. 309-313
The synthesis of tetraethylethylenediphosphonate (TEEDP) was investiga
ted by means of H-1-NMR technique. The alkylenation process occurs via
two steps. Some aspects of the reaction kinetics were discussed. The
second step is ca. 1.7 times slower than the first one. TEEDP was synt
hesized via the intermediate formation of bromoethyl-diethylphosphonat
e. The first step is a ist order reaction with respect to each reagent
. Small TEEDP amounts were yielded in the first step suggesting the fu
rther reaction of the intermediate product with triethylphosphite. For
both steps, the formation of the phosphonium ions (I and II) occurs m
ore quickly than their decompositions.
