PYRYLIUM-SALTS WITH LONG ALKYL SUBSTITUENTS - IV - 2,6-DIPENTYL-4-METHYEPYRYLIUM SALTS AND DERIVED PYRIDINIUM SALTS

The crystalline pyrylium salts were obtained by SnCl4 catalyzed acylat ion of isobutene (from t-butyl chloride) with hexanoyl chloride (capro yl chloride). Some intermediates and by-products of the acylation reac tion are described. A new corresponding pyridine and N-methyi, N-pheny l, N-dodecyl pyridinium salts have been synthesized. These derivatives were characterized by H-1, C-13-NMR, emission and GC-MS spectra.
