Aromatic poly(phenylquinoxaline-esters) have been synthesized by solut
ion polycondensation of bis(hydroxyphenylquinoxaline)s with two diacid
chlorides containing preformed ester units. Also, poly(phenylquinoxal
ineesters) containing pendent imide rings have been synthesized by the
same procedure using bis(hydroxyphenylquinoxalines) and two diacid ch
lorides containing preformed imide rings. All these polymers were char
acterized by infrared spectra, elemental analysis, viscometric measure
ments and thermogravimetric data.
