G. Fiorentini et al., THE ANISOTROPY OF INVERSE BETA-DECAY AND ANTINEUTRINO DETECTION, Nuclear physics. B, Proceedings supplement, 70, 1999, pp. 364-366
The anisotropy of the positrons emitted is the reaction <(nu)over bar>
(e) + p --> n + e(+) has to be taken into account for extracting an an
tineutrino signal in Superkamiokande. For the Sun, this effect allows
a sensitivity to nu(e) --> <(nu)over bar>(e) transition probability at
the 3% level already with the statistics collected is the first hundr
ed days. For a supernova in the Galaxy, the effect is crucial for extr
acting the correct ratio of nu - e to <(nu)over bar>(e) - p events.
