Abstract
We have developed a new apparatus capable of detecting contamination o n insulators on overhead transmission lines. The apparatus consists of multiple leakage current detectors with Peltier modules and features very compact size and light weight. Accumulated contaminants can be me asured automatically and continuously without wiping them. The apparat us has demonstrated excellent performance in both laboratory and field tests.
