The determination of particle beam emittance and density distribution
in the longitudinal phase-space projection is discussed and the experi
mental results are compared with the Gaussian distribution. Analysis o
f the data clearly shows the decomposition of the beam into three comp
onents. The orientation of the phase ellipse indicates a marginal impr
ovement in the time resolution with the energy analysis of the beam. T
he effect of various machine parameters on the time structure is studi
ed and stability limits of some of the parameters are determined exper
